SMS Banking

SMS (Short Messaging Service) banking is a state-of-the-art unattended system used for providing 24 hours service to the Bank’s customers for accessing their account information using mobile instrument. SMS banking uses the power of software and SMS technology to process the customer’s request, scans the bank’s database for necessary information and replies to the customer’s mobile by sending message in text format, completely unattended.

SMS banking offers the following services:

  1. Latest balance information.
  2. Details of last three transactions.
  3. Transactions alerts above specified amount.

Procedure:-

Customer has to fill up an application form & register himself with the bank to avail these services. Form can be obtained from any branch of the bank.

SMS Banking Services : PUSH functionality
In PUSH functionality, bank will send information/intimation related to customer’s account to the registered mobile number of the customer.

Push Messages:
Bank will send below mentioned PUSH messages:
a. Debit / Credit Transaction Message for a stipulated amount (for SB a/c above 10000/- and C/A / C/C a/c above 25000/- ).
b.   Inward Cheque Returned Intimation.
c. Outward Cheque Returned Intimation.

SMS Banking Services:  PULL functionality.
In the PULL functionality, customer will initiate the messaging. If customer wish to know the balance / other information in his account or wish to communicate response to an advertisement issued by the Bank, customer just needs to send a simple message to 9225525253 which is a specific long code of our Bank. Customer will receive a reply mentioning the balance / other information in the linked account, which is applied by him.
To start with, the Customers may initiate the following messaging under PULL functionality:

  • Account balance enquiry
  • Last three transactions enquiry
  • Issued Cheque Status enquiry

Our Bank has obtained a specific long code 9225525253 for SMS Banking Services. This code is unique for our Bank. Our customers will have to send special keywords to this number for their specific requests as may be needed by them. The messages and replies available in the PULL message functionality are given below:
PULL Functionality: For using the PULL functionality, following KEYWORDS are defined i.e. SBAL, LST3, FCHQ.
If a customer sends SMS using PULL keyword, in reply he will get help details as follows.

Keywords                        Usage

  • SBAL             Account balance enquiry
  • LST3             Last three transactions enquiry
  • FCHQ            Issued Cheque Status enquiry

Details of GL Code:
1281 (Savings A/c), 1301 (Current A/c), 2304/2307 (Cash Credit A/c)


1. ACCOUNT BALANCE ENQUIRY – For obtaining balances of various accounts which are linked to Customer ID, customer will type following Keywords on his mobile.

 

 

Example. Customer will type SBAL (Space) GL Code (Space) (Account Number.) and send this as a message to 9225525253
e.g. SBAL(space) 1281(space)30127

The reply message which will be received by the customer is as follows:
Balance for Ac /xxxxxx/30127 on 15/09/2008 Total Bal: INR 813.59
Avbl. Bal: INR 435.59.

2. LAST 3 TRANSACTIONS – For obtaining last three transactions in the Linked Customer account, Customer will type the following keywords on his mobile.

LST3 (Space) GL code (Space) Account Number: System will give details of Last 3 transactions  of specific account.

Customer will type LST3(space)1281(space)13237 and send this as a message to 9225525253
The reply message will be received by the customer is as follows:
1) 20080902 10,000.000 DR 2) 20080711 20,000.000 CR 3) 20080520 103.000 CR

3.   ISSUED CHEQUE STATUS ENQUIRY – For knowing the fate of issued cheque whether paid or in transit in the linked customer account.

FCHQ(Space)(Cheque no)(Space)(GL Code)(Space)(Account no): System will give fate of above mentioned cheque for a specific account.

Customer will type FCHQ(space)188294(space)1281(space)30127 and send message to 9225525253.
The reply message will be received by the customer is as follows:

Cheque No.000000188294 is encashed on 10/09/2008 for 4,374.000 LIC

Note: The customer will be required to keep one blank space between KEYWORDS / CHEQUE NUMBER / GLCODE / ACCOUNT NUMBER
